For the 2024 May long weekend, Vancouver will see mostly sun with warm temperatures, with one day of rain. Get the full Weatherhood forecast.

Vancouver can expect a mixed bag of weather this May Long Weekend - the holiday that for many is seen as the kick-off to the warmest weeks ahead - including a soggy Saturday to break up our recent run of sun.

Friday (May 17) will bring lots of sunshine during the day before the clouds roll in tonight.

V.I.A.'s Downtown Centre Weatherhood station forecasts a high of 16 C for Friday under mostly sunny skies. The clouds settle in by the evening, giving way to rain overnight. Some Vancouver neighbourhoods, like Killarney, could see Friday's temp get as high as 19 C during the day.

On Saturday, Vancouver could see up to 7 mm of rain and temps in the mid-teens. In the Southlands area, Weatherhood is forecasting a high of 15 C and a low of 8 C.

For Sunday and Monday, outdoor fun-seekers will likely enjoy mostly sunny conditions with some clouds.

Sunday at Jericho, beach-goers will find mild temps, with a high of 15 C forecast, and only a 12 per cent chance of rain midday. It will warm up a bit more in most neighbourhoods on Monday, with Trout Lake and Hastings-Sunrise both expected to hit 19 C during the daytime on Victoria Day.

Special weather statement for snow on the Coquihalla

Hitting the road today or Saturday? Environment Canada issued a  early Friday morning for the Coquihalla from Hope to Merritt due to snowfall in the mountain passes.

"An upper low will bring a cool airmass to higher elevations of the B.C. Interior today and into this long weekend," cautions Canada's weather and climate agency. "Colder air along with precipitation means the mountain passes are seeing some snow now."

During the day, the precipitation will be rain, however, it is "likely to return back to flurries tonight and into Saturday morning."

"Transportation routes may be impacted. Travellers should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions," added Environment Canada.
