Here's what to expect at this weekend's massive, free 10-block Vancouver street fair

Welcome back, Khatsahlano

The Khatsahlano! Music and Art Festival returns to Vancouver's Kitsilano neighbourhood this weekend covering 10 blocks, with seven stages and no cost (because it's free).

The Khatsahlano Street Party returns this weekend covering 10 blocks of Kitsilano with seven stages of music and performances, food trucks and local vendors.

With more than 50 performers throughout the day on Saturday, July 6, the event will take place on West 4th Avenue from Burrard to Macdonald streets; organizers call it "Vancouver's largest free music and arts festival."

Notable performers include headliner and local indie rockers Hotel Mira, long-time local band Bend Sinister, JUNO-nominated Amanda Sum, recent Polaris Prize long list nominee Devours and two performances from the kids at Vancouver's School of Rock.

There will also be a cake-eating contest.

Last year's festival featured a controversial moment when Mayor Ken Sim chugged a beer on stage.

This year's festival also has a theme, or perhaps themes: sparkle, shine, and reflect.

Along with many restaurants and patios participating in the festival, Khatsahlano will have food trucks, with a group parked between Balsam and Larch streets, along with others sprinkled throughout the area.

The lively summertime event will also boast five beer gardens spread out as well.

The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
